Understand
behind the news

Nancy Pelosi is an American politician. The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) is an American immigration policy that allows some individuals, who illegally entered the USA while being minors, to receive a 2-year period of permission to work in the USA. Through DACA these people could legally become citizens of the US. As of 2017, approximately 800,000 individuals were enrolled in the program created by DACA. This policy was established by former US President Obama in June 2012 and was ended last year by the current US President Donald Trump. Pelosi tried hard to convince the leaders in favour of ending DACA program and to reconsider their decision. During this longest speech by any American politician since 1909, she told the stories of DREAMers and immigrants who are brought illegally and sometimes forcefully to the United States. Her main concern was that in the proposed budget'>budget, there was nothing for protections for such minors.
