IAAF - International Association of Athletics Federation headquartered at Monaco , Europe is soon to introduce rankings for athletes. The decision was announced on 3rd November 2017. One of the any reasons to introduce rankings is to ease the ambiguity amongst the athletes and their qualification for various tournaments.
Who's the fastest runner in 200m? According to the world title of London 2017, Ramil Guliyev. For some it's Usain Bolt and for others Andre de Grasse. The list also has the names of Wayde van Niekerk from South Africa and Wayde van Niekerk. We can't forget a new entrant Christian Coleman from America. Confused! This is exactly the reason why IAAF has decided to rank the players. The rank will be based on the points collected by the athletes in various qualification rounds along with performance aspects and the level of the respective event the athlete is participating in. The point system and various other details regarding the ranking will be on papers by first quarter of 2018. The ranking will be ready for the qualification of 2019 World Championships and Olympics to be held in 2020 in Japan.
Ranking system will further improve the performance of the athletes as it will enhance the sportsman spirit. It will increase the curiosity among the sports lovers as well, as they are keen to know the ranking of their favorite athlete. Who's your favorite?
