The News

Kaisa Makarainen’s name will be written in golden letters in the history of Biathlon. She has won the Biathlon World Cup for the third time on 1st Feb 2018. She defeated her arch-rival Anastasia Kuzmina. Biathlon World Cup, 2018 was held at Tymon in Russia.

behind the news

Biathlon is a winter sport that is played on snow. The contestant has to cover a particular distance by skiing. There is more to just finishing the skiing race; a player has to shoot at frequent targets with the help of rifle while racing on snow. Makarainen is an athlete from Finland who won the world cup by just three points in the final. She faced a stiff competition from Kuzmina, Darya Domracheva, and Polina Fialkova. And at the end, she won by overcoming the challenge in the dying moments of the game. In the men’s category, Martin Fourcade of France won the World Cup title. It is his first world cup win.

beyond the news

Biathlon is not an easy game at all! As it is a combination of two different sports: Skiing and Rifle Shooting. Winning the world cup of this tournament three times shows how talented Makarainen actually is. And not only Makarainen but all the other world players. If you have heard that multi-tasking is the demand of 21st century, then start playing Biathlon. Summer has just begun!
