Pop star Ruby Rose will no longer wear the iconic batsuit anymore as the baton has now passed to Javicia Leslie. Leslie has become the first black actress to ever play the role of Batwoman in DC?s History.
Batwoman is a TV show that is set for a season two launch. As of now, pop star and actress Ruby Rose plays the lead role. But for the next season, actress Javicia Leslie has been casted. Rose had conveyed her decision to quit the role in the month of May and since then, there has been a gap which was giving producers a headache. Leslie became noticeable after her splendid performance in 'God Friended Me'. Both Rose and Leslie belong to the LGBTQ+ community which makes the role even more significant. Ruby Rose also expressed her excitement by sharing a sweet message on her Instagram channel by congratulating Leslie.
Diversity is the new normal and it always should have been. Though it?s unfortunate that casting of a black actor is a news even today, but the fact that initiatives are being taken al over the Hollywood is commendable. More and more inclusion of minorities is required so that we can normalise and encourage participation of actors from different sections of the society to end discrimination.
